Chateau de Courtomer, located in the serene valley of Orne in Normandy, is a historic gem built between 1787 and 1789. This magnificent estate replaced a medieval chateau that stood since the Middle Ages and became the seat of a powerful Norman noble family for nearly a millennium. With its classical style and symmetry, the chateau embodies 18th-century Enlightenment ideals of harmony and balance.

The history of Chateau de Courtomer is rich and fascinating, marked by centuries of social and political upheaval. The current structure, designed by a Parisian architect and commissioned by the last Marquis of Courtomer, stands as a testament to a bygone era of nobility and grandeur. In 2005, the Bonner family purchased and restored the chateau, bringing it back to its former glory.

Recently renovated, the rooms blend 18th-century elegance with 21st-century comfort, ensuring a restful stay. The nearby Farmhouse provides additional lodging for up to 9 guests, featuring a cozy and stylish ambiance with antique furnishings. Ideal for extended family or wedding party members, the Farmhouse is just a short walk from the main chateau, offering a more casual yet equally charming accommodation option.

Getting there

From Paris By Plane: Fly into Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Orly (ORY) Airport. From either airport, rent a car and drive approximately 2.5 hours to Chateau de Courtomer. Take the A13 highway west towards Caen, then follow signs for Alençon, and continue to Courtomer.
