Sailing Into Love: A White Wedding on The Water
Nestled in the heart of the Nièvre region, a picturesque setting came to life in an unconventional yet poetic wedding inspiration shoot. Aboard La Mignonnette, a traditional Loire gabare, this shoot showcased the wild, untamed beauty of the Loire, often called “the last great wild river in Europe.” This captivating project aimed to highlight the authenticity of the region and its natural charm through an elegant yet understated wedding design, proving that a wedding on a boat can be both adventurous and sophisticated.
“Having settled in the Nièvre region three years ago, I was captivated by its wild setting,” shares the photographer behind this vision. “The gabare, an emblematic feature of the local scenery, emerged as the ideal location for this project.” Unlike the castles dotting the Loire Valley, the gabare offered the perfect blend of simplicity and raw beauty, creating an authentic, unpretentious wedding narrative.
Clara, a long-time friend and collaborator, joined the project, inspired by shared memories of passing the abandoned gabare. Together, they envisioned a wedding shoot that embraced the region’s untamed nature, flowing gently with the river’s rhythm during a sunset cruise.
French Artistry Crafts an Exceptional Wedding Inspiration
The creative team brought this vision to life with thoughtful details and a touch of local craftsmanship. Élodie crafted an enchanting tablescape where a wavy table design mirrored the river’s gentle movement. “We wanted to highlight the river’s mineral quality and its natural textures,” explains Élodie. Floral arrangements by Emmanuelle added a wild elegance, celebrating the region’s flora.
Hélène, a ceramist from Nevers, contributed handcrafted pieces, while Philippine’s hand-dyed fabrics lent a sense of luxury to the scene. These elements came together harmoniously, enhanced by the sunset’s shimmering reflections on the water.
Lewis and Victoire, a couple deeply connected to the Nièvre region, brought the shoot to life with their love for local traditions. Victoire donned her Maison Floret wedding dress, its veil aptly named “Lewis” after her husband. Her look was complemented by makeup artist Amandine’s radiant styling and Lydie’s elegant yet relaxed hairstyling. Lewis wore a beige suit by L’Apiéceur, perfectly blending sophistication with the setting’s natural tone.
“Our goal was to form a team of local vendors,” the photographer explains. “Each person’s contribution celebrated the craftsmanship and authenticity of Nièvre.”
