Here at French Wedding Style we love weddings in the heart of Provence. Today we want to share with you an intimate wedding at Chateau Grimaldi, Provence featuring some elegant and chic French wedding design. Boheme Moon has captured these images detailing florals, designer shoes and designer wedding dress details that creatively tell the story of this couples wedding day. We love neutral colours and this wedding shows just exactly how beautiful this can be.
Bride Kristen says “We wanted to have an intimate wedding in a beautiful destination with the people that were most important to us. Having always dreamt of hosting an outdoor dinner, we chose Aix-en-Provence because of its natural beauty and warm weather. The groom is from Gabon and I Texas, so our guests came from all over the world to celebrate with us!
Château Grimaldi was a dream venue. A historic site nestled in the heart of Provence, the house was built among the ruins of an 16th-century château once belonging to the Archbishops of Puyricard. A portion of the chateau walls and the chapel where we were wed are all that remains of the castle.
Having worked in fashion for several years, I have garnered some experience in event planning and decided to forgo a wedding planner. With the help of our friends and family, the groom and I planned and orchestrated the entire weekend.
We hosted a welcome pool party the day before the wedding for everyone to have some fun in the sun get to know each other. On the eve of the big day his family cooked a delicious traditional Gabonese meal for the rehearsal dinner.
For the wedding itself, it was very important to us to hand select vendors from Provence to create an authentic, south of France feeling. Our flowers, catering and music were all local, and we were delighted with them.
We chose a grey and blush color palette to harmonize with the setting of the chateau. Our goal was to create a relaxed, elegant evening that celebrated not only the region, but two cultures and families coming together as one.
We wanted to involve our loved ones as much as possible. My uncle is an ordained minister and performed the service. The wedding and speeches were both in English and French, of which our friends graciously translated for us.
My cousin sang along with the jazz band at the cocktail, and another friend of ours who happens to be a DJ, played at the after party.
Our wedding was more than we had ever hoped for! All of the hard work by our amazing vendors, friends and family made for an unforgettable moment that we will cherish forever.
