We are heading east today for a snowy winter wedding in Alps for Paule and Vincent’s big day. From romantic mountain wedding portraits to sheepskin lined dining chairs this cozy Chalet des Praz wedding has it all!
Are you dreaming of a winter wedding? With its typical charming architecture and Christmas markets, the Alps are an ideal location, with cozy, wooden chalet venues and snowy mountain backdrops perfect for a white wedding.
We’ll now pass you over to our beautiful bride Paule who will be walking us through her snowy winter wedding in Alps captured by photographer Zephyr & Luna …
We met 11 years ago, we were 16 and 17 years old in high school with one of our best friend. Vincent always told me that that day he felt something special. And for my part, he had something that appeased me but I didn’t really dare go there. I was a year older and in high school, stupidly enough, that counts so it took me a little month before saying to myself “come on, let’s try”. Then, “come on, let’s try it” quickly became a true love story in which we were both in love.
In November 2018, almost 10 years of relationship and it was at the top of a summit of 5448 meters above sea level in Nepal that Vincent asked me to marry. I like to say that he had carried my toiletry bag and sleeping bag so I had to say yes but in reality even if I was wearing everything I would obviously have said yes to spend the rest of our lives together!
We hesitated between Brittany (where I came from) and the mountains where Vincent’s family has a second home. We chose the mountain because we wanted to give our guests an experience and we found that a winter wedding answered that well.
Regarding inspirations, I looked at a lot of wedding blogs and Pinterest to find ideas that were in the mountain theme. I also didn’t want us to fall in the mountain kitsch and Christmas. We were immediately seduced by the place Chalet des Praz because its entire interior was made of wood. The place was almost self-sufficient! It also allowed us to have 110 guests, a capacity that is not easy to find in the mountains.
For the decoration of the tables, we thing something fairly natural with burlap table runners, mini pine cones to place the guests, fir branch, jars decorated with lace, rafia and wooden logs in table’s center.
Preparing for a wedding requires activating its practicality: concretely imagining how to do what looks nice on Pinterest (necessary material, plan, etc.). And the more we do it in advance, the easier it is in my opinion (which we haven’t really done and would surely have helped us in the last month).
What we liked most during the day: We loved starting the wedding on Friday evening with the civil ceremony, it threw us into the emotion that was going to carry us throughout this weekend. The photo session in the mountains was a magical moment when we both found ourselves in this magnificent nature.
