About the Venue

Château Soulac, situated in the commune of Juillac, is a remarkable 17th-century estate standing on a natural rock formation overlooking the picturesque Dordogne Valley. Originally built as a fortified residence, it began as a 14th-century monastery and chapel, elements of which remain evident in the current structure. The château underwent significant transformations in the 19th century, adding the central square courtyard and iconic four corner towers that enhance its grandeur. The property's secure, rural location amidst vineyards and woods offers a serene setting just 25 minutes from the world-famous wine town of Saint-Émilion and an hour from Bordeaux. The estate's rich history, combined with modern amenities, provides a perfect venue for both weddings and family gatherings, where guests can enjoy the tranquil beauty of the Dordogne region.

Accommodation:

Château Soulac offers ample accommodation for both wedding parties and group rentals, sleeping up to 22 guests. The main château includes four ensuite rooms, with three large double bedrooms and a twin room, offering comfort and privacy. Three additional apartments—the Pool House, the Perch, and the Gate House—provide further lodging, with a mix of double and twin bedrooms, as well as a sofa bed, ensuring flexible arrangements for all guests. The château’s generous entertaining spaces include a winter dining room, summer dining room with conservatory doors, a large family kitchen, and a salon, providing a variety of settings for gatherings. The amenities are enhanced with a study, TV room, open fireplaces, and underfloor heating for year-round comfort.

Beyond its interior, Château Soulac sits on an expansive 8 hectares of grounds, which include woods, a hard tennis court, a beautiful walled swimming pool, and spaces for table tennis and badminton. The estate also features a small barn, often used for wedding services, and a badminton court. Getting there

From Paris: The quickest route to Château Soulac is via a direct TGV train to Bordeaux, which takes approximately two hours. From Bordeaux, a scenic 60-minute drive through the French countryside brings you to the estate, nestled in the Dordogne Valley.

From London: Travelers can reach Château Soulac by taking the Eurostar to Paris, followed by the TGV to Bordeaux. Alternatively, direct flights to Bordeaux or Bergerac airports are available, with the estate being a 50-minute drive from Bergerac or 65 minutes from Bordeaux.
