Shay and Bryan’s Journey
Originally 10,429 kilometers apart, from Tehran to Crystal Lake, IL, their paths unexpectedly converged within a 5-mile radius, beginning their shared journey. Their story took a romantic turn on December 3, 2021, in the cozy ambiance of their home, under the twinkling lights of a Christmas tree, where Bryan proposed. The sweetness of the moment was heightened by Van Morrison’s melodies and made unforgettable when their dog Hazel joyously participated as Bryan got down on one knee.
A year later, they chose the festive season of Christmas in the City of Love, Paris, to tie the knot, surrounded by their families and friends at the Shangri La Paris hotel.
Inspiration and Decoration
Blending American and Persian traditions, their ceremony was uniquely dual-parted. They honored Persian customs at the Sofreh Aghd, detailed with envelopes crafted by Shay’s aunt, eloquently explaining the spread’s significance. Shay’s brother-in-law led the ceremony, complemented by a traditional sugar ceremony.
The Shangri La Paris hotel offered a magical setting for the wedding, with guests hailing from 18 different countries gathering to celebrate their love. Paris proved to be the perfect location for such a global celebration.
