Nestled in the rolling countryside just north of Toulouse, Château du Pont Bourget played host to a wedding that was as heartfelt as it was effortlessly elegant. For this interior designer bride and her surgeon groom, the day was not only a celebration of love, but also of home—held at the bride’s own family-owned château in Occitanie. With a vision that fused timeless romance with contemporary style, their spring wedding was a true reflection of who they are: modern, sentimental, and full of soul.
Bumble Meeting to Barn Wedding: A Real Love Story at Château du Pont Bourget
What began with a Bumble match in bustling London evolved into a breathtaking celebration in the heart of the French countryside. Hannah, a Kiwi interior designer working in Chelsea; Oliver, an NHS surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster—worlds apart yet destined to meet. After a move to Edinburgh and the start of a wedding business hosted at her family’s château, their own love story came full circle with a wedding in the French countryside.
Soft Neutrals and Sage Green for a Romantic Spring Wedding
The design was a reflection of their shared aesthetic: classic-meets-modern, infused with a soft, romantic tone. A neutral palette of whites, pearl, linen, sage, and touches of gold complemented the natural surroundings and elevated the elegant, laid-back vibe of Southern France. The bride wore the Kyha Lucia gown with a tulle overskirt—modern and romantic in equal measure. Bridesmaids wore sage green Shona Joy dresses, each with a unique silhouette. The groom’s custom Andrew Brooks suit paired perfectly with his groomsmen’s relaxed beige linen—stylish and seasonal.
A vintage Citroën bridal entrance up the château’s side path brought flair and fun, setting the tone for a heartfelt ceremony led by a close friend. Having officially tied the knot in Edinburgh the week before, the couple embraced a personal, story-driven ceremony. Their unrehearsed first dance to James Bay’s “One Life” captured their chemistry and left guests grinning as the dance floor filled.
Artistry & Details That Shine
From florals to venue styling, every detail carried thoughtful intention. Fragrant roses, peonies, orchids, and eucalyptus—accented with anthurium and Icelandic moss—set a lush, textural tone. Bridesmaids carried simple stemmed white roses tied with ribbon, while the bridal bouquet balanced softness with structure.
The couple’s personal touch shone brightest in the reception space. At the time of the wedding, they had just completed converting the barn ruin into a glassy, orangery-inspired area—becoming the first couple to wed in the new space. DIY energy, Kiwi spirit, and designer flair made the moment even sweeter.
Bringing the vision to life with precision and heart was Dorulet Events, whose planning and styling expertise ensured the day flowed seamlessly and felt deeply personal from start to finish. Capturing every heartfelt glance and golden moment was Amali Studio, whose photography and videography brought an artful lens to this unforgettable day.
