Wildflowers, Nude Tones and Monet Stationery: A Loire Valley Editorial at Apremont

A styled editorial on the sandy banks of the Allier river at Apremont-sur-Allier, Loire Valley. Nude palette, Monet stationery, Salome Gautard gown.

By Sophie Laurent | Published 14 April 2026

Sand beneath bare feet, wildflowers spilling from the bow of a wooden boat, and the Allier river winding through the Loire Valley with the turrets of Apremont-sur-Allier in the distance. This editorial shoot, conceived by creative team Somes and art directed by Noces.Co, transformed the sandy riverbank below one of France's most photographed villages into a setting that felt both wild and intentional. Models Julie and Theo from Lyon brought a quiet warmth to every frame, their natural connection carrying the concept from ceremony arch to candlelit table.

Ground-level floral arrangements in cream and white lined the sand where Julie and Theo stood, the village and its medieval chateau rising behind them across the water. The ceremony set-up was deliberately minimal: no arch, no aisle runner, just locally foraged wildflowers placed directly on the riverbank. That restraint let the northern France landscape do the work, with soft midday light warming the scene as they exchanged vows barefoot.

Julie wore a fluid gown by Salome Gautard, its fabric light enough to catch the river breeze and detailed with delicate floral embroidery that echoed the wildflower installations. A simple cape added movement for the boat portraits, where she sat among loose arrangements of peonies and field flowers. Jewellery from La Chambre Blanche, all nature-inspired gold pieces, kept the look grounded and warm. Hair by Lydie Lemmer stayed loose and undone, with Anais Champion's makeup barely there.

Ilkeys and Clara Martigny Photographie split the shoot between their two lenses, each photographer working in her own style before combining the galleries into a single vision. The boat on the Allier became the anchor for their couple portraits: Julie and Theo laughing, kissing, sitting among the flowers with the chateau framed behind them. A few frames in black and white pulled out the textures, the draped fabric, the ripple of water, things colour would have softened. The table sat directly in the sand, its linen draping pooling on the ground and lifting in the wind. Scenographer Elodie of Noces.Co kept the palette to nude, cream, and warm gold: ceramic plates, gold candelabras, and glass lanterns set against the natural minerals of the riverbank. Florist Guillaume Page foraged local wildflowers, peonies, and grasses, building loose, deconstructed arrangements that moved with the breeze. Every floral piece was designed to travel: from the ceremony to the boat, then to the foot of the table, reducing waste and keeping the visual thread consistent. Stationer Zoé created a bespoke suite featuring Monet's Water Lilies, tying the art to the water setting with hand-pressed wax seals and calligraphy on textured stock. With chateau wedding venues in the Loire as its backdrop, the entire design proved how little you need when the location does this much.

The Monet-inspired stationery suite, styled on the sand with the ring box and pearl accessories, set the visual language before the first dress shot. Watercolour water lilies on thick card, an olive velvet ring box holding gold bands, and calligraphy place cards in warm ivory: every flat lay detail reinforced the connection between art, nature, and the river itself.
