Kristen and Theo's Provence Wedding at Domaine de Fontenille in Luberon

Kristen and Theo's Provence wedding at Domaine de Fontenille, Luberon: a ceremony beneath the estate's largest sequoia, an Assemble SG gown, and 100 guests.

Kristen and Theo met as students in France, one of them from New York, the other from London, and now live in Singapore. The South of France was the place they kept coming back to as a couple, so it was the obvious place to marry. They brought 100 guests in from all over for a 3-day celebration at Domaine de Fontenille, a Relais & Châteaux estate set among the vineyards of Provence. It was planned by Caroline Santini of Oui en Provence, who they credit with the whole thing running on feeling rather than logistics.

The ceremony was held beneath the largest sequoia in the garden, framed by tall pines, with a low half-moon arrangement of white blooms at ground level so the landscape stayed the focal point. A mutual friend officiated. It was deliberately short, with live guitar and piano playing songs reworked for the day, including an acoustic "Invisible String". The couple kept the format their own and exchanged vows there, and it was the part they loved most.

Dinner was under the stars in front of the Bastide, the décor kept to greens and whites so the Provençal setting could carry it. A live band turned the night electric. The couple's love of all things feline ran through as playful, fashion-forward detail rather than a theme: bridesmaids in custom pyjamas with feline prints, a tiger-print swimsuit for the groom at the pool party, an engagement ring in a cat-shaped box, and giant cardboard cut-outs of their 2 cats on the dance floor. Bespoke espresso martinis and a late Provençal snack carried everyone into the after-party. Their advice to other couples was short: "Hire the right planner. There were so many logistic components to coordinate all of the vendors to make the whole weekend go smoothly. We were able to spend our time with friends, family, and each other without even worrying about logistics."

The decor stayed out of the way of the setting: a white-and-green palette carried from the watercolour invitations through to the cocktail linens, with gold touches in a champagne tower and LED lamps, and thin twisted sage candles in glass holders. The florals were unstructured and garden-spirited: a soft white bridal bouquet, the half-moon ground arch, and 10 large compositions lining the aisle.
